Cyclists Paddling, Alaska, 1996

Photo: Cyclists Paddling

Tired and sore after 700 miles (1,126 kilometers) of biking, these cyclists raft down the Stony River. Rafting was a luxury after crossing previous rivers on foot, running the risk of hypothermia or even drowning.
