Jeans Drying on a Railing

Photo: Jeans drying on a stair railing

Jeans dry on the railing of a red-painted stoop in the Bronx.

"When I look outside my window, I see more trucks pass by compared to the number of birds that pass over our heads," wrote photographer Misra Walker. "The trees in my neighborhood never seem to grow, but the walls in the industrial park get bigger and thicker. Little by little, nature fades away. Every tree that dies ... I feel I lose my breath."
