Pride of the Serengeti
Photo and caption by Barbara Fleming
Driving into an expanse of savannah, green with new growth, we came upon three lionesses resting peacefully on an old termite mound. As we drove slowly toward them eight cubs came out of a nearby thicket, one by one, tails high and very dignified, and snuggled down. To my amazement, all eight stared in our direction, watching curiously at us as we madly clicked away. It felt like hours with the cubs but when I looked back at my images, it was merely moments.
