Sculptured by Nature.
Photo and caption by Gavin Withey
This photograph was taken on a visit to Bigbury on Sea in December. I was lucky with unseasonable weather and good light. I went off the main tracks to explore the rocks and cliffs of Burgh Island. The tides are extremely strong and powerful as they wash in around Burgh Island to cover the causeway and surrounding rocks. The rock formations I discovered by climbing down the cliffs were amazing, formed by the constant wash of those powerful tides. You can only get to the location at low tide and a long climb down the rocks, a bit daunting but the resulting photographs were worth it.
