The Great Tohoku earthquake made a serious impact on local Japanese traditions and cultures have been preserved for so many years. Zaido is the traditional ritual preserved for over 1300 years. It had faced many difficulties for survival in the history such as fires, theft and hereditary problem. In Zaido ritual, those who dedicate the sacred dance for the gods are called “Noshu” . They must purify themselves religiously by abstaining from meat, which is called “Shojinkessai”. Besides avoiding meat, many strict rules are imposed on them. In modern society it is very tough.
