Finch on Barbed and Razor Wire

This delicate finch, perched on a dangerous, human barrier, created an immediate emotional response, even as I lifted my camera. Now, having looked at the image many times over several months, it continually produces new thought trails. The image has become a metaphor for me of the human impact on wildlife habitat, whether it happens wittingly or unwittingly, in complex or simple ways. Although this bird seemed accustomed to its altered habitat, and didn't seem immediately harmed by it, for me, sadness pervades the scene, along with a desire to protect this bird.
