The Santa Monica Pier is often photographed, but seldom from underneath. The area below the pier is closed to the public, but one unlocked door can do miracles for the opportunistic photographer. It was a busy day, and every time a car drove on the planks above, a cloud of dust and sand created marvelous light beams for me. No one found out I sneaked in there, though they could've told by the dust and cobwebs that covered me and my camera.
