The moment after sunset at Mammoth Hotsprings, at the Yellowstone National Park, had a strange purple cast due to the smoke of forest fires. I wanted something minimalistic, the backgrounds were hazy, the trees dead and dry, and the solitude was palpable. As I had my camera set and ready to shoot, a raven landed nearby. I waited, and he started walking right towards the picture I was framing. He didn’t stop, and quickly flew off, but I managed to catch 3 pictures right in time. The desolate nature of the picture was made so much ghastlier by the grim presence of the black bird.
