I was in Khajuraho, India, famous for its temples and sculptures, and at a visit to a local late in the evening I began clicking birds. This beautiful creature was sleeping with its beak tucked under its wing, and as I creeped up closer for a better pic, she opened her eye and looked directly into the camera. After I clicked this pic, I lowered my camera and kept standing still, looking into the beautiful eye. It was a brilliant blue, and was a profound moment for me. For her however, it might have been quite boring, for she closed her eye and went back to sleep, ignoring me completely. Sigh!
