The Varanasi porter

For Hidu to die and be cremated in Varanasi means to break an eternal cycle of reincarnation end get moksha. A funeral pyres takes from three to five hours and burns 600–800 kg of three kind of wood. Every day 250–300 deceased pass through the ghats of eternal city. And all these enormous quantity of wood arrives by boats and is manually unload and stored to the nearby warehouses. The porters start the work early in the morning usually with a swallow of cheapest local whisky and a dose of betel. Another workers lay the wood heaps – on the sites, on the roofs, in the basements...
