Night Squidding

Just before touching down Taipei's international airport, some sporadic lights floating along the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean puzzled me. Few days later, on my way returning from chasing 9 Black-faced Spoonbills, the same view I saw from the sky manifested in front of my eyes! "What are those boats doing there at this crepuscular time?" Later I found out these seiners equipped with high intensity white light to attract spawning squid aggregated in the shallow, sandy bottom of coastal waters.
