A boiled-beans vendor wearing “Thanakha” (Yangon, Myanmar) “Thanakha” is a traditional Myanmar natural cosmetic. It is a light brown paste prepared by rubbing the bark of the “Thanakha” tree (Limonia acidissima) in a concentric manner on a smooth stone with rounded base using a little bit of water. Most Myanmar girls and women apply “Thanakha” on their face as a cosmetic. The daily application of “Thanakha” is believed to refresh and rejuvenate the skin. A thick layer of "Thanakha" also serves as a sun-block. A layer of “Thanakha” on a lady's cheeks adds a touch of beauty and charm.
