Sustainability in Rural America: Harnessing Wind Power in Morris, Minnesota

Category: Places

Photo and caption by Tabitha Morris

Sometimes here in Minnesota, when it is just the right mix of cold, humid, and still, fog freezes on the surfaces of objects. Delicate ice crystals coat everything--every blade of grass, the most delicate branches of trees. If only for a moment, you don't mind the biting cold. I got my first case of frostbite while taking this photo on the morning of February 19, 2013. I chose to submit this photo because I want people to see that there is deep beauty in these "fly-over" towns like Morris, and that beauty often goes unseen, but for by a few people.
