Ghostly Visitors

Category: Places

Photo and caption by Rich Pantaleo

I stood in this spot for nearly an hour, taking photographs and observing the crowds. The stream of visitors to the site was nearly endless. In a setting such as this serene forest, it really brought to mind the temporary nature of human existence. This image was created in a single 30-second exposure. The humans appear as whispers- there for the briefest of moments. The man-made structure in centered- enduring. But we realize the scene is dominated by the trees- the forest. They will remain long after humans have departed and the building has crumbled into dust.
