Nile Crocodile versus Zebra

Category: Nature

Photo and caption by Richard Simonsen

This epic struggle showed the will to survive of the zebra even when faced with the overwhelming odds of three Nile crocodiles. After sustaining an initial shoulder wound that would probably have resulted in a slow and painful death had he survived, the zebra almost made it to shore only to have the massive Nile crocodile get a vice-like grip on a large area of skin and tissue from the rib area. Finally the zebra summoned all his strength and managed to rear up, tearing all the skin and tissue away to get out of the crocodile’s grip.
