Hoopoe

The Hoopoe is a fascinating and beautiful bird. It feeds on caterpillars, grubs and other insects it digs up from grassy areas. It can spend several minutes in extracting its meal from the ground. It then kills and softens up the food and tosses it quickly in the air before swallowing. This all happens very quickly and one must be prepared for the 1/10 sec that this beetle grub is in the air before it is quickly swallowed.
