Agra Hall

Photograph by Marco Parenti, National Geographic Your Shot

“It was a rainy day when I visited the Taj Mahal last year,” says Your Shot contributor Marco Parenti. “During my walk to the monument, I noticed this long arcade with a cart at the end. The perspective offered by the sequence of the pillars precisely zooming right onto the cart’s wheel was amazing. The ochre tone was highlighted by the grayish light of the day. [It was] just perfect—everything seemed to be there just waiting for my shot!”

Does this remind anybody else of "Poltergeist"? Very cool photo.

Great composition, Marco - I have been to Agra & Fathepur Sikri a few times, but this is totally different perspective from you - Well done!

Teaches one how to see the world through a photographers eyes. Who would have thought that this could make such a stunning photographic subject.

The chips on the 3rd and 5th pillars do a nice job of adding character to the image.  I think that's almost as interesting as the cart at the end.  Very nice.

This is really nice, and so centered and symmetrical.

Woooooo.            Mysterious, amazing and surreal image.        Such a "neat" photo!          Well done Marco.

A simple cart framed many times is condensed with lovely color, making  this a shot that is more than great. Its wonderful what the eyes of a human with a camera can see, and the going about of ' getting it'. Love this one,and so bravo!  j.e.s.

I have to disagree with Jan K. - the image "needs" the cart - the eye and brain is looking for something at the end of the "tunnel" - the arches (the leading lines of the composition) are leading us to .......... the cart - love the composition as well as the treatment of the light.

What a beautiful picture it is almost like a painting and I guess in a way that is what it is!

Nice photo :) and I love the effect the shadows give on the floor. Looks like stairs.

I think the photo is great, but I don't really like a cart, it takes too much attention on itself.

I love how the arches lead the eye through the corridor to the cart. Beautiful light and colour.
