A Fox Tale

Photograph by Bjorn Anders Nymoen, National Geographic Your Shot

"I was in Svalbard staying in an old trappers' cabin," writes Your Shot contributor Bjorn Anders Nymoen. "I was on my way to go out fishing in a nearby lake when I suddenly got this follower. I had forgotten my wide-angle lens back in the cabin, and after a while he was actually too close. I wanted to catch the colors of the flowers and take advantage of my 300mm lens, so I lay down on the ground to get a nice depth of view."

Nymoen, whose shot was a Daily Dozen selection, has been working with Arctic wildlife for 20 years. "I'm still fascinated when animals just pop up while you're changing a lens, charging batteries, and so on. Everything is unpredictable, and that's what I love about the Arctic."

Fantastic shot!  I love the detail in the fox fur and the beautiful carpet of flowers that it walks on.  I would have been so excited in that moment.  Great work!

This shot has everything! It makes my heart sing! Such natural beauty in the wonderful little fox, her eyes(or his), the absolutely stunning bokeh, the amazing color, the way its little feet barely even touch the ground. Such lovely poetic beauty it has to be a she, look at the little bows on her forehead! This is truly a Silver Fox!

Such a marvel!        The Fox is just such a fascinating, cute little animal.      Maybe it's because it's rare that we get to see an actual Fox, that they are such an enigma!       Wonderful photograph and love the background colors!

Nope.  I like it.  He's loosing his winter white.  There's a blue sky and a bit of spring color on the ground.  It gives me encouragement that this winter will too end.

A great picture. The little fox with its bottle brush tail just looking into the camera waiting it seems for its picture to be taken. And with success,in spite of a forgotten lens!   Congrats: on a wonderful shot. j.e.s.

Great and beautiful shot. The fox looks like a human, watching you (like it knew you were about to get a shot of it). Love it!
