Bonobos, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Photograph by Christian Ziegler, National Geographic

This Month in Photo of the Day: National Geographic Magazine Features

Tranquil and protective, Zoe cuddles Zizu after nursing him. Male bonobos, unlike chimps, do not form same-sex coalitions to achieve power; from infancy to adulthood, a boy’s best friend is his mother.

Oh, just to look into those eyes.  The gleam.  The expression.  The tenderness in holding of the little one.  Can I see affection?  The glorious "day to day" of mother and child, even in the jungle.  Survival, growth, continuation & devotion to the young one.  And all through the "eyes of the greening plants" to see ...lovely!

How long do we have to put up with this annoying Nikon camera commercial on this site? Every move I make on this site I have to stop to delete this commercial again and again. Maybe not everyone sees this commercial, I don't know.

Agreed! This whole site is starting to piss me off just because of this one ad.  Take it away it's distracting from the photo!
