feel like in a cinema salon, lights coming from the film cabin of the salon and the film just about the start!
looks like little little lights from all the stars entering the room through the chimney and getting accumulated out of the window , perfect beginning of a fairy tale movie :) great shot!

As a high school student with a passion for photography, National Geographic is always inspirational!

... not so much the night sky, it's the window and lights coming out of it that did the magic. Great job!
The pop up adds are ruining this website for me. national geographic, thought you were better than that. This is stunning
Unfortunately, it is very far from reality. The light from window is too strong, the sky too bright. Photo of the day was disappointing..
Like a reflection from a pond, there is one obvious reference point for this photo. The nature of light emanating from heaven and earth. It is not so obvious if there is anyone inside the cabin, but the natural answer is 'probably'. The question of extraterrestrial life has been formulated in the Drake Equation. It throws together a number of variables (like the number of inhabitable planets and the probability of life) to also answer 'probably.
The composition of the photo was quite deliberate. The proportions of sky, cabin and forest all appear to have been calculated. For me, this leaves the photo a little cold and flat. However the sky is truly wonderful. (In both senses of that word.)
Technicality / Composition / Content / X factor / originality = 7/10 zoom lenses
Given the ideal dark-sky conditions, it's odd the photographer didn't turn off the lights in the cabin to remove the "light pollution". But of course, the rays of light coming from the cabin window add a magical nuance and cozy invitation to this photo.
There's one shooting star in the night sky.

@Michaela Ravasio Ditto. It's a real shame - this has been my home page for a very long time but I'm sick of seeing the pop up ads.
