Café, Amsterdam

Photograph by Marko Savic, My Shot

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

In a hidden street I found this cafe. It looked like a scenography for some movie. I loved the atmosphere and the pictures on the wall. The lighting was really dramatic, and the man with the cigar was in just the right place.

(This photo and caption were submitted to My Shot.)

What Makes This a Photo of the Day? I agree with the photographer—this does feel like a scene in a film, with all the elements working together to provide a cohesive sense of place: the picture of the couple on the wall, the patrons sitting in just the right spot by the window. What makes this great, of course, is that the scene is one the photographer happened upon, a lucky find. —Alexa Keefe, Photo of the Day editor

He looks a bit like Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner

I knew that this wasn't a photo of a movie~This looked to me to be something that was stumbled upon~I know because I was born with an eye for photography and sound. EXCELLENT SHOT MARKO SAVIC & KEEP UP THE GREAT SHOOTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NATURAL PHOTOGRAPHY IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a very nice picture - I specially like how the light gives a balance to the scene.

Now - how can I recommend a photo for Photo of the Day?  I really like Jesus Fuentes' "Spontaneous" (photo 7 of 71) with the juggler and children around him.  Jesus has amazing photographs!

It's not a hidden street. Is on corner Keizersgracht and.Leliegracht: World Heritage.

Captures effectively the "sense of place".  I love the use of available lighting with the window's soft light and the highlights of the lamps in the scene.
