In Japan the nighttime viewing of cherry blossoms in spring, like these at Kyoto’s Hirano Shrine, is a special event. "The cherries' only fault: the crowds that gather when they bloom," wrote Saigyo, a 12th-century poet.

qué lindo color tomaron las ramas de los árboles, muy interesante la cultura oriental.
I absolutely love this picture! I like how the cherry blossoms have that intense pink color because of the lights.

there is some thing heavenly in this tree.so delicate and the lantern add to the view.

This is a breathtaking image! Each cherry blossom sparkles in comparison to the others. One is not any more beautiful than the next. Great shot!

Wonderful photo.......but once again, the same comment, as posted before, why aren't we getting fresh photo pf the day??? rather than the shots which are already on Nat Geo website photography section?????

Lovely photo... I particularly like the lanterns, and would love to be among "the the crowds that gather when they bloom" just once.
@Susan P. Like the 12th century poet hinted, it would be better without the crowds. But still, it would be quite a site.
The quote just proves the point of my prior post. I do not agree with the ideology of the right relationship between man and other aspects of nature.
