Landscape, Czech Republic

Photograph by Wael Massalkhi, My Shot

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

Deer enjoying the wavy fields in southern Moravia in the Czech Republic

(This photo and caption were submitted to My Shot.)

What Makes This a Photo of the Day? The color and texture of the evenly planted rows make me think of an iridescent fabric, like taffeta or velvet. This is appealing in itself, but it’s the tiny figures of the deer that make the shot and give the eye a place to rest. —Alexa Keefe, Photo of the Day editor

Beautiful photo. It looks like folds of a fabric. Amazing!

i love the description of velvet .... its a wonderful metaphore for elements that are so very different not only in material but also porportion...and yet that is EXACTLY the feel, as one gazes into this view and one gets caught up immediatly

Outstanding pic! It hurts my eyes if I stare at it for too long but the deer definitely takes the stress of your eyes. Great, vivid colours
