A Study in Pink

Photograph by Ken Dyball, National Geographic Your Shot

"We took off in a Cessna from a little dusty airstrip just beside Lake Turkana in northern Kenya," says Your Shot contributor Ken Dyball. "We had waited out the heat of the day so we could use the soft afternoon light. [After] about five to ten minutes flying south, we encountered these flamingos flying over Lake Logipi."

The flamingos kind of make the shape of a seal. Good timing.

Great photo, the scale, clarity and interest factor. Well done, just a little envious!

It seems almost as if the flock forms the shape of a bird itself...

What a picture!  The shape is rather like  pre historic animal's  as we perceive them to be. I'm glad tho' that they are what they are, lovely pink flamingo's in flight.  I do wonder just how high they were flying. But that matters not, its the photography that counts and it is super. The reflection on the lake  is so beautiful.  Thank you.  j.e.s.

Lovely! .....It really is a "study in pink", since you can look at it for quite a while to take in all the similar shades of pink and all the different shapes and textures as well.
