Lion, Serengeti

Photograph by Michael Nichols, National Geographic

This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures

In the Serengeti, life is hard for the greatest of African predators. An adult male lion like Hildur, shown here, might attain the advanced age of 12 in the wild. Adult females can live longer, even to 19.

Very Beautiful photo. It's almost as if your running along the Serengeti with him and you can feel the cool night air. Very good photo.

It's really great to show the strongest weak in the world, does that mean the more developed the more fragile? Like the WallStreet system.

He looks skinny and needs a good meal.  One can count his ribs.

This picture captures a specimen so perfectly engineered for its environment. What I give to flip through my shots of the day and stop on this jem. Thanks for sharing.
