A Quiet Spot

Photograph by Nuttawut Jaroenchai, National Geographic Your Shot

A young monk in Myanmar's ancient city of Bagan has found a quiet spot to read. The archway behind him offers shade and neatly frames a nearby pagoda, thousands of which dot the Bagan landscape.

Very well made. The bright, pristine blue of the sky and the monk's splash of red give life to this image. Also, the sprigs that frame the umbrella against the sky lend the monk a delicate air.
