Beautiful polar bear.
BUT "enjoying", "resting" or "relaxing" are not the good captions for this photo. Moreover, the description of this photo "Nearly camouflaged in his habitat, a polar bear surveys his surroundings." makes me sick, the fact that this bear is living in captivity is OBVIOUS.
No blame to the photographer, the shot itself is good and the pose if funny. But you need to tell the truth about it, standing in a zoo shooting behind a steel fence is very different from being with the bear in his habitat.
Sharing such a photo and allowing this lying description makes me really sad about National Geographic...
Please correct the description.
Where was this taken? It looks like a zoo. The rocks appear painted white with cracks clearly visiable.
Lovely, looks like he is getting photographed for his latest cover of a magazine! Magnificent animal apparently loving his surroundings and just "chilling out". Such a great photo!
how sad that this creature and it's environment will not be here for generations to enjoy seeing..(IN PICS) because of our abuse of the planet...
it is beautiful
A truly magnificent animal with a far away look in its eyes, and seemingly posing for a really beautiful picture. The impact of white on white here with the cold green water added is fantastic, and also pleasing to me. So many words, so few to cover this shot. j.e.s.........
