Porcelain Crab

Photograph by Jean Wimmerlin, National Geographic Your Shot

This Month in Photo of the Day: Animal Pictures

A red-spotted porcelain crab clings to an anemone in this underwater photo from a member of our Your Shot community. The tiny crustaceans often tuck themselves away under stones, among sponges, amid mussels, and in other hiding spots.

I have a bad memory with crabs, but that does not mean that they are beautiful creatures .

Looks like the crab is hiding in a bunch of grapes. Very pretty.

The tentacles are indeed green. The red polka dot is the 'under body' ot the anemone which I just lifted to take the picture.
