Santa Lucia Green Roof

This Month in Photo of the Day: National Geographic Magazine

The irrigated roof of a house in the exclusive Santa Lucia Preserve community near Carmel, California, helps the structure blend smoothly into a grove of live oaks. Designed by Bay Area architect Jonathan Feldman, the roof also adds a measure of protection in this fire-prone area.

Awesome green roof. It’s a bit hard to tell in the picture initially, but it appears that they've used native vegetation and even some solar panels. This combination should work a long time. Recent projects in College Station roofing involving Texas A&M University showed the benefits of combining both green roofing and solar roofing.
