This is actually Bica Cable Car, not Bairro Alto. This particular one travels from Bica all the way down to Cais do Sodré and Mercado da Ribeira.
LOVE perspective in architecture. Also captures the hussle and bussle and crowdedness...Hang on kids!
In the seventies I was one of that children enjoying the ride. The cable car is still there, working as usual, but kids do not get fun in the streets anymore. Education is different, the practice of radical sports has its proper place, with a better evaluation of the risk and under supervision. But, at the end, the main different is that we were radical for free. Now we have to pay a lot.
I bit the children are not going any where and just enjoying the ride :)
the naughty one in the back looks like a relative of mine
In 1965, children were not overpampered like they are today. At the same time, their daredevilness did not have the same implications then as vehicles were not traveling as fast as today's. You have to look at that picture with your 1965 eyes, Omar. Or were you even born then? Perhaps not. Then you missed a carefree sort of world. Sad for you.
@Omar Attabou Those who know what's best for us, must rise and save us from ourselves. Or shall we be free?
