Scotch Pines, Norway

Photograph by Orsolya Haarberg

This Month in Photo of the Day: The Power of Photography

Still water and the setting sun create a painterly backdrop for a stand of Scotch pines on the island of Sula—one of the many ice-scraped, sea-sculpted, barely peopled places that together create Norway’s sublime shore.

Awesome picture. Something seems kind of odd though - what it is I can't seem to put my finger on it. Nature always has such beauty - little wonder for all the wonder of creation.

It took me a while to totally understand what I was looking at, wonderful.  The compression and colors in this shot make for a great composition.

The sharp focus on the stand of pines in the foreground, against the blurred reflection of trees and the setting sun on the rocks makes the image seem almost dizzyingly surreal.  An excellent photo.

Stunning shot and composition ! I love the background colors and reflections , it took me few seconds to realize it was a water surface in the background ... Fantastic shot and so deserving to be the photo of the day ...Congrats !

I'm having a hard time know which way is up, due to the reflection?

When looking at this picture and that alone makes it a great shot.
