Ohhh, beautiful, desolate and chilling.      Love the trees and the shadows.       Photograph evokes many emotions.

The black, needly, webby, barren black tree contrasts with the field's snow for a definitive winter theme.

Well, here's a minimalist winter aerial image.  The sun is near the horizon, to the left, casting the long shadows of the trees and the snowbanks of the plowed road.  Two people have been cross-country skiing on the right side of the road, fairly recently.  They had been beside each other, but had to go single file through the narrow space between the tree and the road.  (Or, it could have been one skier who retraced his or her tracks.)  So this empty Latvian landscape has a population of at least two or three people.  In the summer, these fields would be cultivated farmland.

I should have been a forensic investigator.  Then again, maybe not.
