El Circuito Mágico del Agua in Lima, Peru, South America, is a beautiful water park that comes alive at night with young women celebrating quinceañeras, children playing in the water, and even adults partaking in the excitement. The nights are magical in Lima but my most fond memory was the night I spent at El Circuito Mágico del Agua.

What Makes This a Photo of the Day? In most circumstances, this kind of harsh, unflattering light coming from below is the opposite of what you would want when photographing people. In this case, however, it works perfectly to highlight the expressions of delight on their faces while also giving this shot a carnival-like feel. —Alexa Keefe, Photo of the Day editor
