Waves, Iceland

Photograph by Sophie Carr

This Month in Photo of the Day: Travel Photos

This is a one-second exposure of the trails left by a crashing wave over small icebergs on Jökulsárlón beach; I think it looks a bit like an octopus.

Amazing in several ways. The white tendrils look like they're reaching up on the beach to grab ice chunks.

looks like the tentacles of a squid coming to engulfing the rocks back to the ocean....

This photo has such an ominous feel with the dark sky in the background and the crashing waves. All the gray makes the blue of the ice really stand out. I agree that it does kind of look like an octopus... it seems like it's a creature from the sea reaching for the photographer. I absolutely love this shot. Well done Sophie.
