Wheat Farm, Clarkston, Utah, 1995
Photograph by James P. Blair
Fields of wheat frame this Utah farmhouse despite its arid location. Dry farming makes bounty in the desert possible, through a regime of tillage, fallow cropping, and the use of drought-resistant crops—all in the name of moisture conservation.
(Photographed on assignment for, but not published in, "Utah: Land of Promise, Kingdom of Stone," January 1996, National Geographic magazine)
