From the war in El Salvador to the Super Bowl, Hiroshima to Shirley MacLaine, Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Jay Dickman has photographed it all.

A Pulitzer Prize winner and National Geographic photographer, Jay Dickman's work has appeared in 15 A Day in the Life of books. His work also has won several awards, including World Press Photo's Golden Eye award, the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Distinguished Service in Journalism, and others.
Dickman has worked in the photojournalism field for over 30 years, covering events as diverse as the war in El Salvador, the Olympics, national political conventions, six Super Bowls, the 40th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, and a photo shoot with Shirley MacLaine. He's lived for three months in a Stone Age village in Papua New Guinea, spent a week under the Arctic ice in a nuclear attack sub (both of these for National Geographic magazine), and sunk on a boat on the Amazon. He's also flown around the world for a corporate shoot for EDS Corporation.
Dickman's photographs have appeared in publications around the world, including National Geographic, Life, Conde Nast Traveler, Time, Fortune, Forbes, Sports Illustrated, GEO, Stern, and American Way. Corporate clients have included EDS, Nike, Dell, Dresser Industries, Hewlett-Packard, Quaker, CH2M Hill, the Polk Company, and Sun Microsystems.
Dickman has completed more than 25 assignments for the National Geographic Society and was also featured in a national TV ad campaign for American Express. He currently is an Olympus Visionary, an HP Pro Photographer, and a Lexar Elite Photographer, utilizing the latest technologies from those companies.
Working with Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic, Dickman has traveled with National Geographic's Endeavour ship. He's worked with many workshops, including the Maine Photographic Workshops and American Photo Mentor Series. He is also the founder of the FirstLight Workshops, hosting digital photography workshops in the Mid-Pyrenees of France, the Western Highlands of Scotland, Dubois, Wyoming, and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Future workshops are planned in Barcelona, Spain, the Aeolian Islands of Italy, and western Ireland.
Dickman has also made time for National Geographic Photo Camp, working with young photographers from underserved communities. Photo Camp inspires young people to explore their communities through the camera's lens and to share their vision through public presentations and exhibitions across the United States and throughout the world.
