This is streetside seafood served fresh daily—from the same spot on Olympic Boulevard for more than a decade.

Chef Roy Choi launched the gourmet food truck craze in Los Angeles with his now famous Korean tacos. But many chefs and entrepreneurs have followed in his tracks. Today more than 250 gourmet trucks—along with traditional taco trucks, or loncheras—offer fast, affordable meals across Los Angeles County.

National Geographic sent award-winning photographer Gerd Ludwig to document L.A.’s food truck scene. Ludwig found “a huge variety of food,” he says. Here are our favorite photos of delectable dishes from ten trucks.
