The All Roads Photography Program was established to recognize and support international photographers whose work documents the world's changing cultures and communities. As part of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the work of six All Roads photographers is being exhibited at U.N. Headquarters in New York from April 21 until May 2, 2008. This photo gallery presents the work of three of the featured photographers.
Akintunde Akinleye, a 2007 All Roads awardee, is a photographer for Nigeria's Daily Independent. His photo essay, "The Troubles of a Blessed Country," explores, among other issues, the aftermath of a deadly explosion in the Nigerian capital, Lagos.
In this photo, Akinleye captures a man rinsing soot from his face at the scene of a 2006 gasoline pipeline explosion in the Abule Egba district of Lagos, Nigeria.
