Kristof and oceanographer Robert Ballard found and photographed the world’s most famous shipwreck, the Titanic, in the early morning hours of September 1, 1985. Kristof and his crew used a submersible search vehicle and a towed sled with still camera to record the wreckage. Photograph by Emory Kristof
